    NSU Wrestling: Wolves Expand Roster with Two Additions

    Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling program continues to grow with the signing of two student-athletes as announced by Head Coach Rocky BurkettBen Fichter (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Tyler Stenberg (Muskegon, Mich.) will join the Wolves as transfer students in the fall of 2015.

    Ben enters the 2015-16 season, after two seasons with Iowa Western Community College Reivers. Fichter entered the collegiate ranks with a 165-40 record for the Sioux Falls O'Gorman Knights. His 165 wins are a school record. Ben was a three time state place winner taking sixth as a sophomore, fifth as a junior, and third as a senior. Fichter plans to major in Elementary Education while at NSU. He is the son of Brian and Chelon Fichter.

    "Ben has a great attitude and will bring a lot of energy to the room.  He has a team first approach and is committed to help this team be successful.  It is great to add South Dakota kids to our program and we are excited to have Ben here at NSU."
     
    Tyler is a college transfer from Muskegon Community College. For the Jayhawks, Stenberg wrestled to a record of 47-13 overall and 12-2 in dual action. As a freshmen, Tyler earned All-American status at 149 pounds, finishing sixth in the nation. He then went on to go 31-7 as a sophomore, with nine falls and a national tournament appearance. Tyler continues to hold school records at Reeths Puffer High School for best freshmen records and most three-point near falls. He finished high school with a 155-22 record and 88 career pins. Stenberg was All-State his final two seasons, finishing fifth at 130 pounds and third at 140 pounds.

    "Tyler is a big addition to our team.  He has had success at the college level and will bring a lot of experience into our room.  He puts up a lot of points which will help us be competitive in duals and in tournaments.
