    Augustana MBB: Vikings set for NSIC South Division match-ups at home

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 21/11 Augustana University men's basketball is back in action this weekend with a pair of home Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division match-ups. The Vikings (5-1, 1-0 NSIC) open the weekend on Friday, Dec. 2, taking on Concordia-St. Paul (3-3, 0-0 NSIC) at 8 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Augustana will then square-off against NSIC preseason favorite Minnesota State University, Mankato (4-1, 0-0 NSIC) at 6 p.m. on Saturday. 

    • Augustana went 2-0 last week, including picking up a win in its NSIC opener against Wayne State Monday night
    • The Vikings and Wildcats tipped-off NSIC action at the Sioux Falls Arena on Monday Augustana picked up a 94-87 win
    • Steven Schaefer converted a 3-point-play with 54 seconds remaining in the game to tie the contest at 86 and eventually send it to overtime
    • Augustana then out-scored Wayne State 8-1 in the overtime period to pick up the win 
    • The Vikings returned to action on Friday hosting Peru State at the Elmen Center
    • Augustana hit a season-high 15 3-pointers and got a career-high 23 points from sophomore guard John Warren in an 89-66 win over Peru State
    • Augustana had four players in double-figures against Peru State, including Jordan Spencer who registered his third career double-double

    • Augustana owns a 5-1 record on the season, including 1-0 in NSIC play
    • The Vikings enter the weekend averaging 80.3 points per game 
    • Augustana has out-scored its opponents by 10.8 points per game on the season
    • Augustana is shooting 46.1 percent from the field as a team, including 42.8 percent from 3-point range
    • Augustana averages 14.3 made free throws per game and is shooting 71.1 percent from the stripe
    • The Vikings are averaging 40.2 rebounds per game and own a +10.0 rebound margin on the season
    • Augustana has dished out 15.5 assists per game and has averaged 14.2 turnovers per contest 
    • The Vikings are averaging 7.0 steals and 2.3 blocks per game 

    • Concordia-St. Paul is 3-3 on the season and will open NSIC play Friday night
    • The Golden Bears are coming off of an 85-80 win over Michigan Tech on Monday night in St. Paul, Minn.
    • The Golden Bears opened the season with three games in Puerto Rico Nov. 11-13. CSP went 0-3 on its season opening trip
    • CSP has won three straight games entering Friday's game
    • The Golden Bears are averaging 75.0 points per game while allowing 74.2 per contest
    • CSP is shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from 3-point range as a team
    • CSP is averaging 13.5 made free throws per game and is shooting 62.3 percent from the free throw line
    • CSP is averaging 40.8 rebounds per game and has a +8.5 rebound margin on the year
    • The Golden Bears are averaging 16.8 assists, 18.0 turnovers, 4.8 steals and 3.0 blocks per game
    • Bryndan Matthews currently leads CSP in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg)
    • Diallo Powell is averaging 15.0 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Golden Bears
    • Joey James is in his third season as CSP's head coach. He owns a career record of 47-48, including 35-30 at CSP
    • James spent one season as the interim head coach at the University of South Dakota (2013-14)

    • Minnesota State enters the weekend with a record of 4-1 on the season. The Mavericks open conference play Friday at Wayne State
    • The Mavericks were last in action on Saturday, Nov. 26 with a non-conference game at St. Cloud State. MSU defeated St. Cloud State 79-62
    • Minnesota State enters the weekend averaging 89.8 points per game and is out-scoring its opponents by 7.2 ppg
    • MSU is shooting 50.2 percent from the field, including 38.7 percent from 3-point range
    • The Mavericks are averaging 16.8 made free throws per game and are shooting 72.4 percent from the stripe
    • MSU is averaging 41.2 rebounds per game with a +4.4 rebound margin on the year
    • MSU is averaging 15.2 assists, 12.4 turnovers, 5.0 steals and 3.4 blocks per game
    • Joey Witthus currently leads the Mavericks in scoring averaging 18.8 points per game while hitting a team-high 16 3-pointers
    • Jon Fuqua is averaging 15.2 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game for MSU
    • Matt Margenthaler is in his 16th season as the head coach at MSU. Margenthaler owns a career record of 334-134

    • Friday's game will be the 22nd all-time meeting between Augustana and Concordia-St. Paul
    • Augustana and Concordia-St. Paul first met on Nov. 24, 2000, an 83-69 Augustana win in St. Paul
    • The Vikings are 9-1 all-time against Concordia-St. Paul in home games and 12-2 in NSIC play
    • Augustana has won 11 of the last 12 games against Concordia-St. Paul, including nine straight wins
    • Saturday's game between Augustana and Minnesota State will be the will be the 115th all-time meeting between the two schools
    • Augustana is 55-59 all-time against Minnesota State
    • The Vikings won both games in the season series last year and have won three straight games over the Mavericks
