USD FB: Signing day party at Old Lumber Company

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota football is hosting a signing day party from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Old Lumber Company located at 15 Court Street in downtown Vermillion.

The event is open to the public and features Coyote head coach Bob Nielson, who will introduce the early signing class with video highlights and biographical information on each signee.

Class of 2018 recruits are the first to have the choice of utilizing an early signing period after the NCAA made the option available this past spring. This first football signing period will last 72 hours from Dec. 20-22. The next available signing date for football players is Feb. 7.

Nielson and the Coyotes are coming off an 8-5 campaign that included the program’s first FCS playoff appearance and a first-round win against Nicholls in Louisiana. The team was led by 18 seniors including a pair of All-Americans in quarterback Chris Streveler and left guard Stetson Dagel. It also included senior starters Brandt Van Roekel (WR) and Josh Hale (TE) on offense, and Taylor Lambert (DT) and Jim Litrenta (LB) on defense.
