SPEARFISH, S.D. - The Black Hills State University basketball teams have announced the Yellow Jacket Sneak Peak on Friday, October 19. The event is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m.
"We are excited to play in front of the public for the first time this season at our Sneak Peak event on October 19," commented men's head coach Ryan Thompson. "It should be a fun night filled with free food, cash giveaways, and a chance to see both the men's and women's teams play."
As the basketball season gets underway, the men's and women's teams invite the campus community to come out and get a sneak peak of the BHSU teams. Events for the evening include intra-squad scrimmages, a 3-point contest, and a dunk contest, and there will be plenty of give-aways and contests for attendees.
"This is a great, family friendly event that showcases a wonderful group of young women and men," women's head coach Mark Nore said. "There is free food, great prizes, and free smiles for everyone in attendance!"
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the first 100 BHSU students to the Young Center will receive a free sixth-man t-shirt courtesy of Wilde Law Office. There will be fan contests, including a chance for three contestants to win $10,000, as well as fan give-aways. Cash and prizes including a 55-inch flat-screen TV, courtesy of Butte Electric Cooperative, will be given away throughout the evening. Free food will also be provided, courtesy of the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation, Jimmy John's, and Dickey's Barbeque Pit.
The Green and Gold women begin the season on Friday, November 9, when they travel to Texas A&M-International at 6 p.m. The Yellow Jacket men open at the East-West Challenge in Sioux Falls, S.D., against Northern State. The opening game tips off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16.
