Both the Central and Stevens girls basketball teams have had some success in their last few games.  Central was able to knock off Sioux Falls Roosevelt, and did it quite convincingly, but then came back to RC and lost to Sturgis.  Stevens was not lucky on the road to Sioux Falls, but came back home and beat Sturgis in a competitive game this weekend.  As I suspected, when facing a strong team defensively Stevens' McCloud and Klapprodt are taken out of their high scoring ways.  The other girls did their best at picking up the slack, but it wasn't enough against the more talented Sioux Falls teams.  The Raiders came back, however, and beat Sturgis 60-55.   They actually scored more points than the Stevens boys team in their loss to Sturgis, but that's just a side note.

The always-anticipated Cobbler-Raider game should be a good one this year.  Central is so scrappy on defense and has such a will to win.  Stevens appears stronger offensively and a bit weaker than Central defensively.  A high energy game like that can bring out the best or the worst in teams.  It will, most definately, be exciting to watch.
