Augustana Baseball: Vikings up to No. 5 in NCBWA region rankings

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Augustana climbed one spot to No. 5 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Central Region rankings released Tuesday.

The Vikings received 44 points to improve from their No. 6 position last week. This is the highest Augustana has been ranked in 2012.

The Central Region is comprised of schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Minnesota State grabbed all eight first-place votes and 80 points to keep the top spot.

Augustana (24-13, 16-6 NSIC) will play six NSIC games this week, traveling to Concordia University, St. Paul (19-15, 10-10 NSIC) for a midweek clash before hosting Minnesota Duluth (16-21, 9-14 NSIC) this weekend. The Vikings will meet CU on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and play UMD on Saturday and Sunday at noon.
