    Augustana Baseball: St. Cloud State hands Vikings two losses

    ST. CLOUD, Minn. - No. 12 St. Cloud State took a doubleheader from Augustana Saturday afternoon at Joe Faber field, winning 5-1 and 13-4.

    SCSU improves to 40-10 (24-6 NSIC), while Augustana falls to 30-1 (22-10 NSIC).

    The doubleheader was pushed back two hours due to rain.

    SCSU pushed in five runs in the fourth to earn the opening-game victory. Augustana scored its lone run in the seventh.

    Kyle Fischer (8-1) tossed a complete game for the Huskies, striking out five and allowing one run on five hits.

    Casey Jacobson (4-5) worked 4.0 innings and gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits in the Viking loss.

    Joey Benke's two RBIs paced SCSU. His two-RBI double highlighted a six-hit inning by the Huskies in the fourth.

    Brian Knight drove in Augustana's only run on an a groundout; Brian Voigt finished 2 for 3. Brendan Koistinen led off the seventh with a pinch-hit double, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Knight's groundout.

    In Game 2, Shawn Riesgraf (8-1) fanned seven batters and gave up two earned runs on four hits to get the win for SCSU. He threw 7.0 innings.

    Sam Gotham (3-1) allowed three runs on three hits in 3.2 inning of work to take the loss for Augustana. Six Viking pitchers saw action.

    Brian Duxbury finished 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.

    Augustana tied the game in the fifth inning by scoring two runs on a pair of Husky mistakes--an error and a balk.

    SCSU answered with seven runs between the fifth and sixth innings.

    Duxbury blasted a two-run home run in the eighth to close scoring for the Augustana.

    The Huskies managed four more runs from there.
