    Augustana Football: Augustana and Sioux Falls will meet for first time in 26 years

    SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana and No. 23 University of Sioux Falls are set to re-new a rivalry on the football field as the two teams will meet for the first time in 26 years on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at Kirkeby-Over Stadium. The teams will be playing for the right to take home the traveling trophy in the inaugural "Key to the City" game. 

    • Augustana enters the contest 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC South Division.
    • Sioux Falls heads into Saturday’s game 6-1 overall, 2-1 in South Division play.
    • Sioux Falls is ranked No. 23 in the AFCA Top 25 poll.
    • Opening kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.
    • Saturday’s game is being taped in High Definition and will be replayed on Midco Sports Network on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
    • JJ Hartigan will handle the play-by-play and Kurtiss Riggs will provide color commentary.
    • Augustana ranks second in the NSIC and 25th nationally in scoring offense averaging 37.4 points per game.
    • Augustana ranks second in the NSIC and 25th in the country averaging 285.1 passing yards per game.
    • Augustana’s passing defense ranks fourth in the NSIC allowing just 196.7 yard through the air per game.
    • Augustana leads the NSIC and ranks third in the nation averaging 40.3 yards per punt.
    • Augustana’s rushing offense ranks fifth in the NSIC and 55th in the country averaging 168.9 rushing yards per game.
    • Augustana ranks second in the NSIC and 24th in NCAA Division?II averaging 454.0 yards of total offense per game in 2012.
    • Augustana ranks fifth in the NSIC averaging 11.6 yards per punt return.
    • Augustana ranks second in conference with 167 first downs (65 rushing, 84 passing, 18 penalties).
    • Augustana is the least penalized team in the NSIC averaging 47.1 penalty yards per game.
    • Augustana ranks second in the NSIC converting on 58 of 112 (51.8%) third-down attempts.
    • Augustana’s defense ranks third in the league holding opponents to 33 percent on third down conversions (33 of 100).
    • Dajon Newell ranks fifth in the NSIC and 50th in the country averaging 83.7 rushing yards per game.
    • Josh Hanson leads the NSIC and ranks 24th nationally averaging 289.1 yards of total offense per game.
    • Hanson leads the NSIC averaging 276.3 passing yards per game.
    • Hanson shares the lead in the NSIC with 21 touchdown passes on the season with USF’s Taylor Perkins.
    • Grant Gebhardt ranks third in the NSIC averaging 6.0 receptions per game.
    • Gebhardt leads the NSIC and ranks 19th in the nation averaging 99.0 receiving yards per game.
    • Gebhardt ranks second in the NSIC and 10th in all of Division II averaging 172.3 all purpose yards per game.
    • Gebhardt ranks second in the NSIC and 22nd in the nation averaging 11.8 yards per punt return.
    • Drew Behrens ranks second in the NSIC and sixth in the country averaging 44.1 yards per punt.
    • Austin Luecke ranks fourth in the conference and 10th nationally averaging 11.1 tackles per game.
    • Thomas Vanasek ranks 11th in the NSIC averaging 8.3 tackles per game.
