MONSTER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: TERRANCE KINZER (COLOME COWBOYS)

This week’s Monster Player of the Week rose to the occasion and proved that Jimmy the Buzzard’s midseason slump was no fluke.  QB/DB Terrance Kinzer led the Colome Cowboys to a convincing 52-36 win over Viborg-Hurley. Kinzer had 19 carries for 224 yards with scoring runs of 1, 60, 28, 32, and 43 yards, along with a first quarter TD pass.  Terrance also led the Cowboys defensively with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery. In leading Colome to an all Buzzdom 9B title game, we are proud to name him this week Monster Player of the Week!

    Other notable semifinal performances:

    • With less than two minutes to play, Winner’s Tanner Fritz hooked up with wideout Isaiah Old Lodge for a 33 yard TD pass to put Winner ahead to stay and cap a 4th quarter comeback in the Warriors 26-21 over semifinal win over the polls #1 team, Flandreau. Fritz ended the day 6-8 for 134 yards, a passing TD, a rushing TD, and 7 tackles on defense in his best career game. Old Lodge finished with 2 catches for 48 yards and the TD that made the difference.
    • Winner’s Ben Connot ran for 125 yards on 19 carries and scored 2 TD’s, while catching 2 passes for 50 yards in the 4th quarter comeback.
    • Winner’s Kray Krolikowski had sacks on consecutive 2nd and 3rd down Flandreau pass attempts in the final minute. Kyle Bertram sealed the game with his 4th down interception.
    • Colome’s Andrew Odden had 29 carries for 156 yards and a TD for the Cowboys.
    • Colome’s O-line of Zach Ekberg, Lane Fawcett, Colin Stenson, Paul Temple, and Cohl Ratterman looked like a cattle drive coming as they paved the way for over 400 yards rushing the Cowboys semifinal run.
    • Gregory’s Jaden Bartling capped off an incredible career with 36 carries for 170 yards and a TD and 150 passing yards with 3 TD’s as the Gorillas fell to Deubrook 46-37 in the 9AA semis.
    • Harding County’s Steven Koch had 84 yards rushing on 11 carries and 10 tackles in the Ranchers victory over Castlewood.
    • The Rancher’s Jess Feist had 61 yards on 10 carries and completed 10-21 passes for 216 yards.
    • Spearfish’s Brandon Kemp had 143 passing yards and a TD in the Spartan’s hard fought game against Harrisburg.

Thank you for mentioning the O-line of Colome, those guys have made this year very successful for Terrance and Andrew!

Looking forward to the proverbial Colome/Harding County matchup. These teams have met many times in the last few years. I think this year will produce a very exciting Championship game.
      Good luck Cowboys!

Congrats to the Harding County Ranchers, they played a heck of a game. Thats where my compliments end. If I were the coach of this team I think I'd be working on sportsmanship 101! I witnessed several unsportman like conduct, you only got penalized for 3. The utlimate was the hurling of Odden from Colome into the lower bleachers after he was clearly out of bounds. A flag was thrown for this infraction. Attitude is great but it needs to be controlled.
