Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame: Inductees and Interviews

The Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame is a group dedicated to the preservation of Rapid City sports history.  The OFFICIALS organization was originally developed in the late 60's and early 70’s to promote sporting events in two buildings being built in Rapid City, first was Carold Heier Gymnasium at Stevens High School and the second was the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.  There was concern the facilities would set idle for many days and nights.  The idea of a sports banquet to honor Rapid City athletes at various level of competition was developed within the OFFICIALS organization.  While the format has changed the concept to recognize current and past Rapid City sports heroes has not, resulting in a record of Rapid City sports history that very communities have.

Last year the Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame celebrated their 40th anniversery at their annual recognition banquet.

Beginning Wednesday night SD Sports Buzz will continue this celebration by hosting bi-weekly interviews of Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame inductees during Nate Brown's SD Sports Buzz Tonight Show.  You can listen to the interviews live online (click here) or on the radio (KIMM 106.7 FM/1150 AM).

Listed below are the inductees in the Rapid City Sports Hall of Fame.  There are three inductee categories: Athlete, Coach, Coach/Contributor.  Tune in tomorrow night to listen to the first interview!
