    ARE YOU SERIOUS? @#*@*

It was a busy day in the basketball scene last night.   With the LNI games being played at the Civic Center, both Central and Stevens boys and girls playing in and out of RC, the St. Thomas More girls and boys playing in Alliance,  I had my pick of games to watch.  It was a tough decision.  Well, actually I didn't have a choice.......I had to travel to Nebraska for work, so I decided I'd catch the St. Thomas More games on the way back to RC.

The word interesting keeps popping in my head.  So does weird, "Are you serious?" and @#*@*, but I'm digressing.  I thought I'd grab some grub at the concession stand and sit and watch the girls play.  "Are you serious?  You only have hot dogs and candy??"  I don't know if it was the lack of a good pretzel and nachos that was the problem, but the girls game didn't keep me all that entertained.  Alliance has a mediocre girls team at best, and often a good team plays to their level of competition.  St. Thomas More had a decent game, but I believe they have a lot more in their bag of tricks.  There are a couple of starters that do best just concentrating on defense and there are a couple that are stronger shooters.  When they can figure out what their roles are STM might be unstoppable.  This was an easy win for them, and I do believe they have many more of those ahead of them.  As they say at STM, GO CAVS!!

Now, on to the boys game.  By this time I was off my sugar high and on my third hot dog.  I'm thinking I should suggest they think about upgrading their concessions.......and what were those cheers their town (yeah, they all showed up) was cheering?  That's weird!!  Are you serious??  Uh, okay, that was interesting.  Small-town humor, maybe?   After watching the Alliance boys warm up I was sure I might get in a good nap before I had to make the drive back home.  But STM came out slow and the game was too close in the first half for any sleepy time.@#@*   Actually, I'm impressed with the skill and athleticism of the STM boys.  Their slow pace is often many other teams' usual game tempo.   They looked strong, and by the end they came out ahead 68-44.  On the way back to RC I was able to get the Custer-Red Cloud game on the radio.  They were playing at the LNI.  I'm excited to see STM play both of those teams this season.  I definately won't be thinking about a nap during either of those games.
