Ranger Field (Hill City)

It is not too surprising that Ranger Field is surrounded by Ponderosa Pine trees. Ironically, the field itself might best be known for its raging homecoming bonfires and the pond near the end zone. A good kicker can reach the water under optimal conditions.

Hill City uses Smokey the Bear as its school mascot. The use is in recognition of the heroic efforts in 1939 by a group of Hill City High School students in helping to protect the town from a forest fire.
