It's time for the monthly installment of Matt Kerney's Video Pick. My pick is Winner Warriors senior Cameron Kuil. A couple weeks ago, Cameron had a strong run at the Bill Pistulka Invitational in Winner. He won the boys 200 and 400-meter dashes, as well as setting a new school record for the boys 400 relay team. I thought his 200-meter dash win was impressive. Starting in the 8th lane, Cameron never looked back as he left the entire field in the dust. The average time to run a 200-meter dash is around 23 seconds. His finishing time was a fast 21.73 seconds.
Compare Cameron's time to one of the all-time state records of 21.22 seconds set by Winner alumni Chas DeMers in 2006. Cameron would have needed 0.51 seconds less off his time to tie DeMers’ record. To make the all-time state top ten, he would need a time of 21.5 seconds or better. The fastest time for a 200-meter dash is 21.1 seconds set by Chet Bruce of Hot Springs in 1926. Just a little ways to go to surpass these records, but keep up the good work Cameron!
