    WEEK 7

    PHILIP (3-3) @ WALL (6-0)

Its homecoming week in Wall as the Eagles face their rivals.  The Eagles are coming off a big win against Jones County-White River.  The turning point came after Wall downed a punt on the JC/WR 1 yard line. Wall forced a safety and regained the lead. Two more JC/WR interceptions led to Eagle touchdowns and Wall took the lead 37-8 into halftime. Wall scored two more times in the second half and came away with a 51-8 victory.  Jacob Bielmaier had over 100 yards passing and over 100 yards rushing. Cooper McConaghy had another 100 yard rushing performance.  Meanwhile the Scotties scored at the end of the game to beat the Hill City Rangers 32-27.  Region 4 in 9A is very interesting as 5 of the 7 teams are sitting with three losses, so there will be some movement in the power points each of the next two weeks.

    EDGEMONT (1-5) @ NEW UNDERWOOD (4-3)

Edgemont scored its first win of the season last week against Crazy Horse 61-2.  The Moguls would love to visit New Underwood and come away with victory number 2.  As for the Tigers, they want to improve to 5-3 before sitting idle in the final week of the season.  Coach Carmichael’s squad is coming off a 48-26 victory over Lyman.  Owne Perry led the Tigers with 200 yards and ‘do it all’ Dusty Merchant had 11 tackles and an interception.

    LOWER BRULE (3-3) @ HILL CITY (3-3)

Its homecoming week in Ranger Land as Lower Brule is looking to sour the homecoming dance.  Last year, Lower Brule beat Hill City in a shoot out!  This year, Coach Eckert’s Ranger squad needs to win down the stretch to clinch a playoff birth.  Believe it or not, this is only the 2nd home game for the Rangers this season.  Expect a big game from Homan, Krull, Arnold, Martinez, Hanson, and homecoming king Taylor Edward.

    LYMAN (3-3) @ RC CHRISTIAN (0-5)

The Comets have improved greatly this season and I would love to see Coach McLaughlin and his squad pick up a win before the 2018 season comes to an end.  This week, they will have their work cut out for them.  Lyman is a really good team that has played a very tough schedule.  The Raiders need to keep the pace in region 4, so I expect them to be focused and ready to play on Friday night at Hart Ranch.

    HARDING COUNTY (6-1) @ NEWELL (0-6)

Friday night will be the last regular season game for Harding County as they look to fine tune some things heading into the playoffs.  Coach Wammen’s squad will have a bye week next week to rest up, get healthy, and game plan for a playoff run.  The Irrigators are still looking for their first “W” of the season, so you can bet they will play extra hard.

    BELLE FOURCHE (3-3) @ PINE RIDGE (3-3)

The Broncs travel to Pine Ridge to take on the Thorpes.  Currently, Pine Ridge sits one spot ahead of Belle Fourche in the 11A power points.  Pine Ridge has won three of their last four but lost to Custer last week.  Meanwhile, Belle Fourche is playing really good football right now as Coach Slotten’s squad has won two of their last three.  The Broncs will finish with STM and Douglas.

    STM (3-3) @ HOT SPRINGS (5-1)

This is the GAME OF THE WEEK!  Hot Springs is undefeated in South Dakota and sits fourth in 11A behind only Tea, Madison, and Dakota Valley.  The Bison are clearly one of the best teams in South Dakota, but Coach Kramer and his squad know the opponent they are facing.  That opponent is the red hot Cavaliers.  After losing 3 straight for the first time since Y2K, the Cavs have won 2 in a row and outscored their opponents 107-13.  Ryder Kirsch is one of the best quarterbacks in any class and Coach Sullivan’s squad will look to capitalize on turnovers.  The Bison will look to take care of the ball and be solid in all three phases of the game.  This should be a good one at Woodward Field in Hot Springs.
