SD Mines Soccer: Kadlec resigns as coach

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- South Dakota School of Mines men’s soccer head coach Jordan Kadlec resigned his position Monday after two years at the helm of the Hardrocker program to pursue other interests.

Kadlec was the second-ever head coach of the young soccer program, which was established in 2012. Kadlec served as SD Mines men’s soccer assistant coach for one season (2014) before taking control in 2015.

“It’s sad to see Coach Kadlec go,” said South Dakota Mines Athletic Director Joel Lueken. “Jordan was an asset to men’s soccer program as well as Hardrocker Athletics, helping our scholar-athletes succeed both on the pitch and in the classroom. I wish Jordan all the best in his future endeavors.”

Kadlec helped transitioned the Hardrockers from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in 2014 to membership in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference the past two years where the program has continued to see vast improvement each season.

“I am extremely humbled, grateful and privileged to have been the head coach of the South Dakota School of Mines men’s soccer program,” Kadlec said. “I would like to thank President Heather Wilson, Athletic Director Joel Lueken and the University to have had this tremendous opportunity to lead the soccer program in a positive direction.”

Kadlec came to SD Mines after stints at Grand Junction Soccer Club in s soccer program where he helped Drake reach the NCAA Div. I Championship Tournament in 2008 and the NCAA Elite 8 in 2009.

Kadlec will finish out his contract through June 22 and an internal search for a new head coach will take place in the meantime.
