BHSU WBB: Black Hills State Signs Two to 2017 Class

SPEARFISH, S.D. - Black Hills State University head women's basketball coach Mark Nore announced the addition of two student-athletes to join the squad in the fall. Morgan Ham and Katie Messler have signed their National Letters of Intent.

Ham, a 6 foot transfer from Minnesota State Moorhead, where she started 28 games as a true freshman. She played her prep career at Lemmon High School, where she tallied 1655 career points and 959 career rebounds, which was the best in Lemmon High School history. She was a four time All Conference selection, as well as a Class B All-State player.

" Morgan is a great addition to our team. She transferred from a very successful collegiate program which she gained valuable experience as a freshman. She can play both inside and outside which makes her a tough match up for defenders," said head coach Mark Nore. "I am very excited about her decision to play for us, and can attest to her as a person and a player. I know she will help us and be a positive impact for our Yellow Jacket team and community. We are very excited about Morgan's future as player and ambassador for our University."

Messler, a 6-2 athlete, comes from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she played for Sioux Falls O'Gorman. She scored 659 points, 617 rebounds and 131 assists. Messler was a 2016 All State selection, 2016 All tournament selection and an All City and All Conference selection back to back years.

We are fortunate to sign another very successful player out of Sioux Falls, Katie Messler. She is a slam dunk player for us and our community from a very successful high school team, Sioux Falls O'Gorman. She can score, defend, does all the intangibles," said head coach Mark Nore. "Her biggest assets are her competitive spirit and defensive prowess, Katie can impact a game because of her length and feel on the defensive side of the court. We are very excited about Katie and her decision to attend Black Hills State University. Katie gets it done on the floor and in the classroom we want to welcome her to our family.
