    SD Mines: Talcott Named New Strength And Condition Coach

    RAPID CITY, S.D. --- South Dakota School of Mines Athletic Director Joel Lueken is pleased to announce Jacob Talcott as the newest member of the Hardrocker athletic staff, leading the strength and conditioning program for all sports on campus.

    Talcott comes to SD Mines with a wealth of NCAA Div.  I experience and knowledge with previous stops atUniversity of Nebraska, Creighton University (Neb.), the University at Buffalo, Louisiana Tech University and Florida International University.

    Talcott has worked with a large variety of sports over the years, while also training as a strength and conditioning coach with professional athletes for football, basketball, soccer and rugby.  He has been in charge of program design for all positions, yearly periodization, coaching and motivating players in the weight room, and communicating directly with position coaches, administration, and athletic trainers.  He is currently a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the NSCA and also CPR and First Aid Certified.

    “Coach Talcott brings a wealth of experience with him and he is a good fit for Hardrocker Athletics,” Lueken said. “The strength and conditioning program is crucial for any sports program and I am confident Jake will help elevate our scholar-athletes to the next level.”

    Coach Talcott has his bachelors of science in Exercise Science from the University of Rio (Ohio) and over 10 years of experience. SD Mines welcomes Jacob to the Hardrocker Family and look forward to seeing the growth of Hardrockers student athletes under Talcott’s direction.

    “It’s exciting to be a member of the Hardrocker Athletic Dept., and I want to thank Joel Lueken and the rest of the SD Mines coaching staff and administration for this opportunity.” Talcott said. “I look forward to working with the SD Mines scholar-athletes and am anxious to see them compete and share all the success that they will have.”

    Talcott takes over the strength and conditioning head coach position from Bret Miguez, who had spent the last two years in the role.
