    BHSU WBB: Mavericks Await Yellow Jackets Arrival

    SPEARFISH, S.D. - The Black Hills State University women's basketball team travels to Minnesota State University-Mankato on Tuesday, November 14. Tipoff is slated for 5 p.m.

    THE GAME - Minnesota State University-Mankato

    • This is the third meeting between MSU-Mankato and Black Hills State. The Mavericks lead the all-time series, 2-0.
    • Claire ZIegler and Claire Jordan are the top two returners for the Mavericks. Just two games into the season, both Jordan and Ziegler are averaging 11.5 points per game. Ziegler led the team last season with 11.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.
    • The Mavericks are a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and are picked to finish seventh after going 12-10 in the conference and 16-11 overall in the 2016-17 season.
    • Rachel Erickson is the top returner for the Yellow Jackets. Erickson led the team with a 10.2 ppg average and scored 265 points. Erickson is leading the team two games into the season with 22.5 ppg average after setting a new career-high 26 points against Texas A&M International. Keely Bertram leads the team in rebounds with 16, seven of them offensively.
    • Black Hills State is slated to finish ninth in the RMAC after finishing 9-13 in conference, and 9-17 overall.


    • Black Hills State University head coach Mark Nore enters his 16th season with the Yellow Jackets and owns a 264-175 record. He is the all-time wins leader for the Yellow Jacket basketball team.
    • Emilee Theisse, a native of Spearfish, South Dakota, is the eighth coach in Maverick program history. Theisse posted the second-most wins in her inaugural season with a record of 26-6, and led the team to the second round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament. In five seasons, Theisse owns a 94-51 record.


    • The Yellow Jackets are looking for its first win against MSU-Mankato since joining the NCAA in 2012.

    Rachel Erickson set a new career-high, 26 points, and is in a three-way tie for the program individual game record of 3-pointers made in a game with seven during the contest against Texas A&M International. Hannah Cass scored her first collegiate double-figure game with 11 points as a redshirt freshman, while Keely Bertram notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds in the game against Texas A&M International. Bertram's 13 rebounds was a new career-high for her as well.

    Black Hills State swept the weekend of Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International, grabbing two wins, 66-41 and 73-55, respectively.

    In the game against Kingsville, Rachel Erickson knocked down 19 points going 7-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Keely Bertram tallied six assists.

    In the game against Texas A&M International, Erickson tallied a career-high 26 points and knocked down seven three-pointers to tie for first place in program history. Keely Bertram also hit her first career double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Her rebounds was a new career-high as well. Hannah Cass saw her first double figure game with 11 points as a redshirt freshman.

    Following Tuesday's game, the Yellow Jackets return home to host Grace University and Johnson & Wales on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
