BHSU WBB: Yellow Jackets ranked in D2SIDA National Poll

SPEARFISH, S.D. - The Black Hills State University women's basketball team jumped into the national media rankings this week. The Yellow Jackets make their first ever appearance in the D2SIDA poll, checking in at No. 25.

The Green and Gold is undefeated this season, starting 8-0 overall, and 2-0 in conference play. The 8-0 start is the best for the program since 1997-98, when the team began 14-0. During the first weekend of RMAC play, BHSU comfortably defeated UCCS (62-37) and MSU Denver (72-57).

The Yellow Jackets are averaging a conference best 77.6 points per game, while allowing just 42.5 ppg, which is also best in the conference. Rachel Erickson leads the squad with 14.9 ppg, while Katie Messler leads the team with 7.0 rebounds per game. Both totals are top-10 in the RMAC.

The D2SIDA poll is voted on by 16 sports information directors, and is in its third year of existence. Colorado Mesa is the only other RMAC team ranked in the poll, and is tied for 17th. Ashland is ranked first in the poll, and is 8-0 on the year.
The Yellow Jackets are also ranked No. 4 in the D2SIDA South Central Region Poll, which matches the highest ranking reached by BHSU during the regional rankings existence.
