INDIANAPOLIS—South Dakota sophomore guard Ciara Duffy has been recognized among the NCAA’s Starting Five as one of the top women’s basketball performers in the nation last week. Duffy received the fans’ vote by collecting 1,691 of 2,819 votes on a Twitter poll.

Duffy was named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week.

The Coyotes compiled a pair of road victories at North Dakota State and defending league champion Western Illinois en route to reaching 3-0 in Summit League action for the first time in program history.

Duffy, a native of Rapid City, South Dakota, paced the team with 18.5 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and a steal per game. Duffy has tallied six consecutive double figure games since her return to the starting lineup with three made triples in each contest. She ranks 13th in the nation for 3-point field goal percentage (46.4) this season.

South Dakota hosts Mount Marty at 7 p.m. tonight before returning to league action with Fort Wayne on Saturday.
