SD Mines MBB: Hardrockers Add 7-4 Post From Minnesota

RAPID CITY, S.D. --- The South Dakota School of Mines men’s basketball team recently signed a recruit for the 2018-19 season and it’s a big one --- literally --- as the Hardrockers are pleased to announce that 7-foot-4-inch Adam Trapp is the newest member of the Hardrocker men’s basketball family.

“Adam is definitely a guy you notice when he walks in the gym – whether it’s when he’s on the court competing or up in the stands enjoying a game,” said Hardrocker men’s basketball head coach Jason Henry. “I’m looking forward to seeing this talented young man in a Hardrocker uniform. His presence on the court will really cause problems for our opponents on both sides of the ball and allow us to do a number of things.”

Trapp is a center from Esko, Minnesota who played his prep ball for Esko High School. In his senior season, Trapp played in 18 games and posted 272 points and helped the team finished the year with a 28-5 record. The season included a Section 7AA Championship and a trip to the Minnesota Boys Basketball State AA Tournament.

Trapp earned All-Conference, Academic All-State and Academic All-Conference awards, was the team captain and earned team MVP honors.

“Yes, Adam is a young man you notice on the floor --- and that’s great --- but he also makes himself known in the classroom as a scholar-athlete. He will excel in that area as well,” Henry added.

Trapp plans to major in Biomedical Engineering while attending SD Mines.

“If possible I would ideally like to play professionally,” Trapp said. “If that does not work I will use my degree to get a job in the engineering field.”
