USD FB: Coyotes vs Kansas State to kickoff on ESPN3

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota football will open the 2018 season on Sept. 1 in a 6 p.m. kickoff against Kansas State at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kan. The game will be carried live on ESPN3.

It will be the fifth matchup between the programs and the second time in the last four years that the Coyotes and Wildcats will square off in the opener. The teams also met in Manhattan in 1980, 1981 and 1982.

South Dakota will be taking on an FBS program for the 11th time in the last nine seasons. The Coyotes knocked off Minnesota 41-38 in Minneapolis back in 2010, and led from start to finish in toppling Bowling Green 35-27 last year in Ohio. That win propelled the program to a 6-0 start, a top-10 ranking, and the team’s first trip to the FCS playoffs where the Coyotes advanced to the round of 16. Future FBS opponents include Oklahoma in 2019, Iowa State in 2020, and Kansas in 2021.

South Dakota will host Northern Colorado the following weekend in a 2 p.m. kickoff inside the DakotaDome on Sept. 8. Dakota Days weekend includes a tilt with Missouri State on Oct. 6. Other home dates include UNI (Oct. 13), North Dakota State (Oct. 27) and Western Illinois (Nov. 10).

Season tickets are available now by calling the Coyote ticket office at 605-677-5959, or by going online to
