BHSU Rodeo: Carlee Johnston and Lammers earn Region Awards

CASPER, Wyo. - Following the conclusion of the regular season, Glen Lammers and Carlee Johnston earned Great Plain Region Honors. Lammers was named the Coach of the Year, while Johnston won the All-Around Championship.

Johnston earned the All-Around title with 1,595 points, more than 200 points in front of any other student-athlete. She racked up points in barrel racing (10th place, 150 points), breakaway roping (first, 520 points), and goat tying (second place, 825 points). The junior won the All-Around Title at the Bison Stampede and the Mid Plains Community College Stampede during the 2017-18 season. She helped lead the Yellow Jackets to eight first place finishes in nine stampedes over the year and qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Lammers was named the Great Plains Region Coach of the Year after the Yellow Jacket women finished first in the region, with Carlee Johnston winning the region title, and the men finished fourth in the region. Five student-athletes made it to the College National Finals Rodeo, with one member of the Green and Gold advancing to the finals. Lammers was last named the Region Coach of the Year following the 2015-16 season.

Three members of BHSU rodeo were named Academic All-Americans. Carlee Johnston, KeAnna Ward, and Alyssa Lockhart all earned the honor by qualifying for the CNFR and holding a 3.5 GPA or better.
