    BHSU Rodeo: Regular season ends at Dickinson

    DICKINSON, N.D. - The Black Hills State University rodeo teams wrapped up the regular season at the Blue Hawk Stampede this weekend. The women's team won the rodeo hosted by Dickinson State, while the men took third. Emilee Pauley also won the All-Around with 275 points.

    In breakaway roping, Pauley took third with 5.8 on two, while KeAnna Ward was sixth with 7.3 on two.

    Carlee Johnston won the goat tying event with 14.8 on two, while Ward was second with 15.0 on two and Cedar Jandreau was third with 16.2 on two. Taylor Hanson took fifth with 17.6 on two, and Pauley was second in the long go with 7.5.

    In barrel racing, Hanson placed first with 35.71 on two, while Pauley was second with 35.82 on two. Carlee Johnston took fourth with 36.05 on two, while Jandreau (36.32 on two) and Joeni Lueders (36.33 on two) were just behind in fifth and sixth, respectively.

    In tie down roping, Collin Palmer won the event with 23.9 on two, while Colton Backhaus was fourth with 25.8 on two.

    Carson Johnston was third in steer wrestling with 13.7 on two.

    In team roping, Jandreau was fourth with 22.5 on two and Cass Lytle was fifth with 24.3 on two. Jordan Staton took first in the long go with 7.4.

    The Blue Hawk Stampede wrapped up the 2018-19 regular season. The women's team took first place in the Great Plains Region and the men were fourth. Carlee Johnston won the Great Plains Region All-Around Championship, while Alyssa Lockhart won the Reserve All-Around Championship.

    A number of Yellow Jackets also won event championships in the Great Plain Regions. Lockhart finished in first in both breakaway roping and barrel racing, while Carlee Johnston was third in both events. As a team roping heeler, Chandler Comfort took first in the region. The Green and Gold finished in first, second, and third in goat tying. Carlee Johnstonled the way, with Ward and Pauley just behind.

    Six members of the BHSU rodeo team have qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo. Carlee Johnston will compete in goat tying, breakaway roping, and barrel racing, while Lockhart will be in breakaway roping and barrel racing. Ward and Pauley will both join Johnston in goat tying. Chandler Comfort will compete in team roping, and Tucker Chytka will be at the CNFR in steer wrestling. The rodeo, held in Casper, Wyoming, will be June 10-15.
