    Sioux Falls selected to host the 2020 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships

    INDIANAPOLIS – Augustana University and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority were selected to host the 2020 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center March 13-14, 2020, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
     
    The NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship was held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in 2016 and was hosted by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority.
     
    "This is an exciting announcement for Augustana wrestling and the city of Sioux Falls," Augustana director of athletics Slade Larscheid said. "We are extremely excited to work with the Sioux Falls Sports Authority and the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center to create a first-class student-athlete experience."
     
    Augustana has hosted the NCAA Super Region Three Wrestling Championship twice in the last seven years, most recently in 2016. This will be the first National Championship finals site Augustana has hosted since hosting the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship in 2000.
     
    "We are excited to partner with Augustana to bring the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship back to Sioux Falls," said Bryan Miller, the executive director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. "The 2016 championship was a great success and we look forward to working with Augustana to do the same in 2020."
     
    About the Sioux Falls Sports Authority
    The Sioux Falls Sports Authority was formed in 2006 by community leaders to recruit major sporting events to the Sioux Falls area. The organization attracts international, national, regional and state sporting events by operating, leasing, enhancing or owning sports facilities in the Sioux Falls area. It is run by a board of directors made up of 15 community members, an executive director and a project director.
     
    About the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center
    The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is a multipurpose facility that houses sporting events, concerts, conventions, meetings, banquets and more. The building sets up to 12,000 for concerts and consists of four levels, including the event level, main concourse level, suite level and upper concourse level. The facility also features 22 suites and 18 loge boxes.  
     
    Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
